31 Days to a Happier Life - Day 21

Looking good.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. True. But it also feels good to look good. Getting out of my sweatpants and into jeans and a nice shirt makes me feel like I have made a little extra effort to look nicer. Not just for me, but for my husband, for my kids, for anyone else who sees me. So, most days I will try to make a little effort to look nice (at some point in the day - hehehe).

There are lots of people who do the What-I-Wore-Wednesday blog posts. Some work, some stay at home, some are casual, some beautifully fashionable. One that I really like (because it is more my style) is The Pleated Poppy' s What I Wore. Another one (more stylish and exclusively just fashion-related) is Rachel Parcell's Pink Peonies. Both worth checking out.

I think it helps to have some inspiration to look to when you want to dress. I know the last thing on my mind is what I'm going to wear tomorrow. After dinner, and getting the kids in bed, and tiding up, and 5 minutes to myself, I pretty exhausted. So having a little inspiration always helps.

Any time I see an outfit I like, or reminds me of something I could pull together from my own wardrobe, I save it. Check out my pinterest boards for different season fashion - Autumn, Winter, Spring, Summer. Lots of fun outfits to draw inspiration from. And it has really helped me pick up my game in the fashion department.

You don't have to spend a fortune on your wardrobe. Find things that fit your budget and lifestyle. Add items when you can. A new scarf can do wonders to any outfit, and are not that expensive. TJ Maxx, Ross, Marshalls, Target are all good options too. Don't be afraid to mix and match items from new and old. Cool vintage pieces from secondhand store or ebay will really show your personality.

But most of all have fun!

What to Wear to Work Wednesday

I'm back to work part-time. And when I say part-time it really is only for a few hours one day a week at the office PLUS numerous hours per week at home. So the part-time bit is really just in reference to time I actually show my face to other adults... who work... in the real adult-working world...out there.

So, as a result, workout capris and a t-shirt are not really going to cut it. I need inspiration, and a major wardrobe overhaul! Hence this post - What to Wear to Work Wednesday!

Last week I was FREEZING in the office. How easy it is to forget all about the office environment, especially when the men outnumber the women! So I'll need layers, and lots of them! Maybe even sneak in my Ugg boots ;)

Here is {my} inspiration board (via Pinterest):

I love stripes, and have the perfect top. I'll pair it with a black cardigan/sweater thing. I can wear jeans to work (we work in a creative field). I have a slightly similar ring, black earrings, black bag and boots. I think this will work. Maybe I don't really need a wardrobe overhaul, just more ideas on how to pull it all together. LOVE pinterest for this! I'll see if I can get a pic of me - no guarantee I'll post it, but we will see ;)

P.S. Here it is...excuse the photos, etc, etc.

Totally Fabulous Fashion Finds

I need some inspiration for an upcoming wedding we are going to. I found these shoes on pinterest - LOVE THEM! Now just need to find a dress to match them? Although I think I need to find the dress first, then match them to some shoes??

From stylemepretty.com:

Also love this as a casual summer outfit - I LOVE LOVE stripes, and I love this color combination - so pretty and summer fresh. Click on the photo to take you to the shopping link:

I think I might try Ross and TJMaxx for some comparisons.

Decisions, Decisions...

Why is that I can see something and just know straight away if I love it or not, but only if I'm not buying it for anything in particular. But as soon as I have something, an event, that I need to buy an outfit for, I totally freeze! Well, thankfully, social media to the rescue!

Just posted a picture of the dress I took THREE months to find (totally picky) onto Facebook , and WELLA, got great advice on what shoes would match it. Also (to begin with) was able to take pics of said dress and email to darling husband to get his input, while I'm trying them on and he is at work (don't panic, it is his own business!).

Picked out a couple of shoes - connected them to Facebook, and BOOM - decision made! Awesome buddies - thank you so much :) Even got advice from my sister-in-law in Australia - how great is that! I love it :)

So looks like I'm set and it only took about 4 or 5 or 6 weeks to do it :)
