Master Bathroom - Redecorated

I still have a few little bits and pieces to complete on the master bathroom renovation - just need to get it done!! MUST get it done before my Mum and Dad get here :) But, you know the impatient me, decided to do a little redecorating instead. I haven't really been sure what direction to go with until now. I originally had all my Japanese artwork up in there, but decided it wasn't really working and moved it all to the bedroom to the gallery wall (looks fantastic!). So I decided to go the beach theme - the colors are perfect for it (a sandy yellow with sea blue accessories). So here it is:

Most of the accessories come from Target, TJ Maxx or Marshalls. A few are from Pottery Barn (the blue jars near the bath tub). Picture frames are from Hobby Lobby. And the rest are antiques from local Antique Malls. The prints are printed from the New York Public Library Digital Gallery - what a great resource!

I would love to paint the cupboards white, but that gets vetoed by the husband...everytime - what's up with that?? :) But with the new decor it really lightens it up in there, so I can live with it now.

I cleaned out all my cupboards and drawers - WOWZA! I got rid of a lot of junk! Feels wonderful. The closet is now done, the bathroom done, bedroom close, laundry done, kitchen organized, girls room done, office/playroom getting close, spare room no where near done - it is next ;)

I love how it turned out - it makes me happy :)

Backyard Oasis

Well, looks like it has been a month since I posted last :( I have been VERY busy :( and a little :) too.

My main aim for the last month has to been to TOTALLY reorganize my house - clean it out and clean it up! It has been a lot of work, but I will have a lot of stuff to show you coming up. Everything from closet reorganization to summer fun.

One fun project I have been working on is the backyard. It really just needed a little tidy up and some pretty things. So here it is:

I went for a green/blue color scheme.

Still haven't decided what to do with the pallet yet - maybe an ottoman, or coffee table??

I guess I have a thing for owls!

Love my little area to lounge and relax (aka soak in the sun, just a little).

And my pretty lights :)

Now I just need to get rid of the mosquitoes, grab a cool drink, sit back and look forward to summer :)

My Weekend in Pics

We went to visit a fellow Aussie at the Zoo.

Spent both afternoons at the lake, just chilling...

... and trying to catch the moon.

Love these moments that last forever, are so sweet and make the world disappear.

Good Friday

I spent this morning in quiet prayer time, reading the Gospel John. I read 1- 10 before the girls interrupted and needed me. It was a great start to the day.

The girls played SO awesome together today. One of those very rare days when it was so blissful and happy.

I spent the afternoon out in the front yard mowing, edging, weeding and cleaning up after the storm. We had a heap of hail come through, and were lucky that the tornadoes missed us. Storms freak me out, especially these tornadoes - I am not used to them yet. I'm the one huddling in the laundry with all my prized possessions (the kids, the cat, my camera, etc) while my husband parades up and down the street searching the sky for any impeding danger. The sirens are going off, it's storming and still he is out there looking around! UGGH!! Just ups my stress level! Anyway, we were lucky this time (thank you Lord), just hail damage to the roof. My car somehow survived unscathed.

So, back to today. A beautiful day to be outside. The girls played so sweet. I got the yard looking awesome, and my 3yr old always manages to blow me away. This was the conversation:

J: "Mom, who makes the green lizards?"
Me: "God does."
J: "Mom, who makes the roly polys?"
Me: "God does."
J: "Mom, who makes the bushes?"
Me: "God makes them too."
J: "Humpf, well, what does Jesus do then? Why does God have to make everything!"

She floors me.

It was a Good Friday indeed.

It's TWINS!!

Oh...so sorry...not that kind of twins. No, sorry - I'm done! But our backyard squirrel residents just had twins and they are ADORABLE!!! Here are some pics:

Testing it out

Mom or Dad hanging out at the side of the nest. Actually he/she is on the squirrel feeder, which I haven't been game enough to fill since the squirrels moved into the nest, for fear of scaring them away.

Extra Notes: I'm from Australia, where we have the cutest little possums you have ever seen. They are not like the US Opossums, oh no! Check out this link HERE for further explanation. Sorry, but those things are a little unpleasant to look at :) So, now that I am here in the US, I LOVE squirrels, because they are so cute, and they have a big fluffy tail, and they remind me of home :) So that is why we have a squirrel home in our backyard!

Now, aren't they ADORABLE!!!!

Easter Subway Art

Tried my hand at the subway art thing last night. What I thought would take 15 minutes took well over an hour! It is a lot harder than it looks...well, for me anyway. Researching, editing, adjusting, adding, subtracting, undo-ing, re-doing, adjusting colors, changing fonts, almost giving up, then finally got it just right (ahhhhh). Also, I was subjected to a letterpress/color families lecture from my (graphic web designer) husband, so that took up a little time too ;)

But here is my final (final) product (no more editing) and, if you wish, you may download for free - just in time for Easter.

And just click HERE to download the Easter Subway art :)
